Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi |
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi issued a direct appeal on Monday to U.S. President Donald Trump, urging him to take decisive action to stop the ongoing war in Gaza and facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged territory.
Sisi’s Public Plea to Trump
In a televised address, President Sisi said, “I make a
special appeal to you, President Trump—please do everything you can to stop the
war and allow aid to enter Gaza. I believe the time has come to end this war.”
Sisi expressed confidence in Trump’s ability to influence
the situation, stating, “I believe he is capable of ending the conflict,
enabling humanitarian access, and alleviating the suffering in Gaza.”
Egypt’s Unwavering Support for Palestinians
President Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast role in
supporting the Palestinian people, emphasizing that Egypt cannot take a passive
stance in the face of their suffering.
“Our role is noble, sincere, and responsible—and it will not
change,” Sisi declared. “We are committed to finding solutions to bring an end
to the war.”
He clarified that the Rafah border crossing is designated
for civilian movement and its operation does not depend solely on the Egyptian
side. “From the Palestinian side inside Gaza, coordination is also required.
Gaza typically needs between 600 and 700 aid trucks on a regular day.”
Urgency to Deliver Aid Through Rafah Crossing
Sisi underscored the urgent need to increase aid flow to
Gaza, saying, “We have a massive number of Egyptian aid trucks ready to enter
Gaza. There’s nothing preventing the delivery of aid from our side.”
He emphasized that the Rafah crossing must remain open from
the Gaza side to ensure continuous access, stressing the importance of lifting
any logistical or political obstacles hindering relief operations.
Firm Rejection of Palestinian Displacement
President Sisi also reiterated Egypt’s clear and firm
position against the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land. He
warned that any such move would undermine the two-state solution, stating,
“Displacing Palestinians would strip away the foundation of the two-state
concept.”
