The Israeli government will meet on Saturday, according to the Broadcasting Authority. |
The Israeli Cabinet is set to meet on Saturday evening to discuss the latest developments in negotiations over a Gaza ceasefire deal, following Hamas' formal response to the most recent truce proposal.
According to informed sources, Hamas has proposed several amendments
to the framework, which are now under review by Israeli decision-makers. The
changes are expected to pose a significant challenge to the negotiation
process, according to reports.
Israel Reviews Hamas' Demands
Late Friday, Israeli sources confirmed that Hamas' reply had
been received and that the government was currently analyzing its content.
Channel 13 reported that Israel is expected to carefully
study Hamas' demands and formulate an official stance before proceeding. It
is also anticipated that a delegation will soon be dispatched to meet with
mediators.
The talks are expected to continue, with negotiations
focusing on key components such as a prisoner-hostage exchange and other
sensitive terms of the agreement.
Withdrawal from Gaza a Central Point of Dispute
Israeli media reports suggest that one of the most complex
issues in the negotiations will be defining the map of Israeli military
withdrawals from Gaza.
According to Israel Hayom, Hamas is demanding a full
withdrawal, while Israel is seeking to retain control over the Morag
corridor and all areas south of it.
Hamas Affirms Positive Response and Readiness for Talks
On Friday evening, Hamas announced it had completed its
internal consultations with other Palestinian factions regarding the latest
ceasefire proposal.
In an official statement, the group confirmed that it had
delivered a response to the mediators, characterizing it as “positive.”
Hamas also emphasized its serious readiness to
immediately begin a new round of negotiations focused on implementing the
proposal in a way that addresses the aspirations of the Palestinian people
and ends the ongoing Israeli military campaign in Gaza.
