The Israeli government is set to hold intensive discussions on Saturday and Sunday to assess Hamas' latest response regarding a proposed ceasefire in Gaza, as well as the broader future of the war and ongoing diplomatic efforts.
According to informed sources, the Israeli Cabinet will
convene Saturday evening to deliberate over the latest developments in
negotiations, following Hamas’ formal reply to the most recent truce offer.
Israeli media reports indicate that Hamas submitted several proposed
amendments to the draft agreement.
Officials familiar with the matter noted that these changes
will likely pose significant challenges to Israeli decision-makers as
they determine their next steps.
Hamas in Internal Consultations over US-Backed Proposal
On Thursday evening, Hamas confirmed that it is currently
engaged in internal deliberations with other Palestinian factions regarding the
U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal aimed at ending hostilities in Gaza.
In a brief statement released on its Telegram channel, Hamas
stated:
“In alignment with our commitment to ending the aggression against our people
and ensuring the free flow of humanitarian aid, the movement is conducting
consultations with the leadership of various Palestinian factions regarding the
proposal received from the mediators.”
Hamas added that a final decision would be delivered
to the mediators upon conclusion of these discussions, and an official
announcement would follow shortly afterward.
